Match Report: Tema Youth Outclass Great Olympics in Accra

The plan for Tema Youth was to outplay, outclass and beat Great Olympics in their own backyard, and at the end of 90 minutes, the purpose was fulfilled.

Tema Youth played one of their best games of the season when they visited Accra Great Olympics in Accra on Saturday and like bunch of lads possessed by supernatural powers, Tema Youth sent four unanswered goals past Olympics in what looked like a horror movie to the home team.

Both sides making their return to the Premier League this season promised to re-live the great atmosphere they displayed in the return fixture in the first round and the promise was fulfilled thanks to the exhilarating display by the away team especially.

In the first round fixture played at the Tema Park, Tema Youth beat Olympics 2-1 and with sights fixed on jumping out of the relegation zone, Joseph Paintsil, leading the attack for Tema Youth ensured that all three points were sent back to the Harbour City with a hat-trick.

Joseph Painstil scored in the 16th minute to unsettle the home team before adding another in the 18th minute to make victory a surety for the away team.

Great Olympics sensing defeat after their fabulous display in recent games raised their game with eyes set on getting back into the game but Tema Youth had other ideas.

Theophilus Ogoe added another goal in the 39th minute to end the first half 3-0 in favour of Tema Youth.

The second half started with a drowning Olympics side bent on redeeming their image with some delightful display but the resolute midfield and defence of Tema Youthh prevented Oly Dade from getting at least a consolation.

Olympics made three quick substitutions intended to correct their first half wrongs; Kwame Boateng came on for Aminu Alhassan with Emmanuel Yeboah replacing Adom Ampofo. Kaplaka Gouantohon replaced Malik Tahiru to complete all three substitutions.

The changes did little harm to Tema Youth as the away side sat back to hit the home team with counter attack moves. Despite hitting the cross bar and getting infringement calls in their favour, Great Olympics could not unlock the Tema Youth defence.

Man of the moment, Joseph Paintsil was on hand to add another goal to deepen the misery of Great Olympics when he found the back of the net in the 81st minute to end the game 4-0.

Tema Youth by dint of the win have jumped from relegation realms into the 11th position.
